Foundry Gallery Launches New Logo and Website

Washington, DC (October 24, 2011) -- Foundry Gallery, Ltd., a cooperative art gallery in Washington, DC was founded in 1971. Still thriving after 40 years, the Gallery is pleased to announce its new logo and website design, viewable at www.foundrygallery.org.

Members of the gallery, committed to the gallery's future, conducted an internal fundraising campaign to collect the funds necessary for the re-design. The logo and site were developed under a contract with Brand Design, a marketing communications company in Warrenton, VA.

"The new logo and website reflects the vibrancy and variety of the artists' work," says Fran Abrams, Chair of the Gallery's website committee. "We are delighted to be able to display the work of our members on an attractive and informative site."

The Foundry Gallery, located at 1314 - 18th Street, NW, is convenient to the Dupont Circle Metro station. The gallery is open Wednesday - Friday, 1:00 - 7:00 pm, and Saturday - Sunday, noon - 6:00 pm.

The gallery includes two exhibit spaces. Shows in both spaces change monthly with a solo exhibit in one space and a members' show in the other. Under gallery policy, no artwork may be shown during more than one exhibit. Says Judy Gilbert Levey, Gallery Co-president and website committee member, "We hope community members and out-of-towners will visit our website -- and our gallery -- again and again."

About Amy Barker-Wilson

Amy Barker-Wilson's abstract paintings give us a sense of mystery and possibility. Her goal and also method of painting is to find the "next step" in the perceptual journey. She invites the viewer to extend his/her own perceptual imaginings along this trail. The paintings build from experiences on journeys both in Turkey and Andalusian Spain, as well as an appreciation of traditional patterns and their architectural dynamics. They are playful, often studied and unplanned mixtures, incorporating geormetric traditions and calligraphic elements among spontaneously arising mixed media of many colors and materials. They evoke a feeling of ancient beauty and lively activity using highly saturated colors often washed out by time and sun, and a silence that pervades beyond the forms -- fun, wild, and meditatively calm at the same time.
